A large part of the cost of buying an electric car is the cost of the battery. This is the most valuable part of an electric car. However, various companies are launching battery subscription options to address customers. In this case the car is sold minus the cost of the battery and the charge is levied on the number of km driven. This reduces the cost of buying an electric car.
JSW MG Motor has now added such a facility to its two EVs. Both the MG Comet EV and ZS EV models have now been brought under the Battery as a Service or BaaS programme. As a result, the Comet EV can now be brought home for just Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom). 2.5 per kilometer as battery rental fee to be paid.
On the other hand, MG ZS EV starts at Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). In the case of the car, one has to pay Rs. 4.5 per kilometer as battery rent. Besides, the company will offer up to 60 percent buyback value if sold after three years of purchase. JSW MG Motor India has tied up with several financial institutions including Bajaj Finserv, Hero Fincorp, Ecofi Autovert to launch the battery rental plan.

Please note that MG Comet EV is currently the cheapest electric car in India. It has a range of 230 km on a full charge. 6.98 lakhs (ex-showroom) to buy normally. The ZS EV model offers a range of 461 km on a full charge. The general price is Rs 18.98 lakh (ex-showroom).
