Hence Meta has been fined and given five months to stop data transfer. Also, a six-month time limit has been given to stop improperly storing transferred data in the US.

In January this year, Meta was fined 5.5 million euros (about Rs 47.8 crore) by Ireland for violating EU data regulations. Earlier in December, a fine of 390 million euros i.e. about Rs 3,429 crore was imposed on Meta for not following the same rules.
