Leo Messi scored four goals last night at the Camp Nou and Xavi stuck in a fifth to trounce Valencia 5 goals to one in a thrilling match. It was Valencia’s Pablo Piatti who got Valencia off to a flying start only to be mesmerized by the little Argentine who promptly stuck two in past Diego Alves inside five minutes.
Barcelona are still 10 points behind league leaders Real Madrid who also won at home to Real Sociedad 4-0.
There could have been more goals from Barca who were in complete control of the game if it wasn’t for a brilliant Diego Alves and some poor finishing by Barcelona.
With fifteen minutes to go Messi scored two more with his fourth coming from a cheeky chip over the head of Alves after a great ball in from Sergio Busquets.
Xavi came on as substitute and promptly responded with a fifth to give Guardiola’s men a conclusive victory.
