Mess to YES: The Drinking Glass Solution!

By Barbarayesspaces @Barbara_Miller

Recently I’d discovered that we were getting low on drinking glasses – again! I was rarely able to find four glasses that matched to set the table. I would like to blame my overenthusiastic diners or the dishwasher that apparently has an appetite for glassware and occasional china; but truth be told, I’m usually the klutzy one!

As I looked at all of the different styles of glasses we had collected over the years, I was reminded of the random little juice glasses at my Grandma’s house. I loved being the only one to ever use the lone little green glass! I was reserved just for me and even though that is a small thing it made me feel special.

Why does our glassware have to match? Why not embrace the differences? I know this might make some OCD people (like Barbara) a little crazy but I decided to embrace the mess in my glass cupboard and add to it. I went to my local Goodwill store and I collected the charming but lonely glasses that needed a new home. All together our new glasses make a cute collection.

Now I won’t need to ask, “Is this my water?” or hear, “That’s my juice!”I especially love the individual glasses now that summer is here because each child, even friends, can choose a glass and use it all day long! No more empty cupboards and full dishwashers for me!

Today, another drinking glass broke in the sink, but this time I just smiled! I can always buy a replacement at the closest garage sale next weekend!

Here’s my eclectic collection. What do you think? I’ve set the table with my new plates from Dollar Tree (another low anxiety choice – when my kids do the dishes no warnings about dish care are needed!) I chose clear glass because my plates are assorted colors, but you could select different colored glasses for another look.
