A person came to a small restaurant near the Muwangala Rajamaha Viharaya on the pretext of buying a betel nut and snatched the restaurant owner’s gold necklace.
Ampara Police said that the robbery took place on Wednesday evening. The robber had come to the restaurant with another person on a motorbike and fled with the necklace which is valued at Rs.145,000.
