These documents were deposited with the High Court of London within the framework of a lawsuit brought by the ex-American actress of 37 years at Associated Newspapers, the publisher of the Daily Mail and its Sunday version Mail on Sunday.

She accuses him of having compromised his privacy by publishing extracts from a letter addressed to his father Thomas Markle in August 2018.

She also accuses him of having “acted dishonestly” by modifying her missive, an accusation dismissed by the London High Court in a partial decision made at the start may.

The documents, cited by the BBC and the Press Association, refer to an interview given anonymously by five close friends of Meghan to the American magazine People in February 2019, in which they denounced the attacks that targeted her. An article in which she was not involved, they say.

Meghan Markle “had become the subject of a large number of false and harmful articles in British tabloids, particularly the defendant, which caused him immense emotional distress and impaired mental health, ”they say.

“His friends had never seen him in such a state before, and they rightly worried about his well-being, especially because “She was pregnant, left defenseless by the institution and forbidden to defend herself,” they add.

The documents also state that the highly publicized marriage in May 2018 of Meghan with Prince Harry, 35 years, grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, generated more than one billion pounds of fallout.

This case constitutes a separate judicial action from the complaint of Prince Harry, sixth in the order of succession to the British throne, against others press groups, which he accuses of having intercepted private voice messages.

Now living in California with his wife, the prince has repeatedly denounced the pressure of the media on his couple and made it the main reason for his withdrawal from the royal family, announced in January and effective since early April.
