5.Carlos Enrique Lehder Rivas $2.7 billion
The co-founder and drug lord of the Medellin Cartel began his criminal career by trading stolen automobiles, marijuana, and later cocaine, before becoming a drug lord. There are several theories about Lehder’s capture, including that his own cartel wanted him out of the picture and that Pablo Escobar himself provided the police with information about Lehder’s location. Lehder was known as the “titan of the cocaine industry,” and he oversaw “legions of gunmen, racing boats, airplanes, a ranch with a racetrack, and even his own small neo-fascist party.” Lehder was tried and found guilty, and he was sentenced to life without parole plus 135 years, which was later reduced to 55 years total in 1992 after a successful appeal. In the United States, Lehder continues to be held in prison. Next: At one time, the fourth-richest criminal controlled 70 percent of this unlawful operation.4. Khun Sa

He used the money to fund the construction of an army and large-scale heroin production facilities.
During Khun Sa’s reign, his empire traded opium for weaponry, allowing him to acquire control over wide areas of the Shan region. Khun Sa was a Burmese guerrilla leader who was dubbed the “King of the Golden Triangle.” He surrendered to the Burmese authorities in 1996 on the condition that he would be given government security in exchange for his surrender.
