Style Wars (1983) is regarded as the indispensable document of NYC street culture

and subway graffiti art of the early ’80s, the filmic iconic record of a golden age

of youthful creativity that exploded into the world from a city in crisis.

Screening Introduction, Q&A and more:

Brame UW (Samuel E Vázquez) was born in Puerto Rico and raised in New York City.

He is a member of numerous graffiti crews from Manhattan, Brooklyn, and The Bronx.

Throughout the 1980s his art graced the New York City subways, rooftops, and walls—

including the Graffiti Hall of Fame. Today, Brame also works on abstract expressionist

paintings and lectures about the origins of graffiti art.
