Phase one of the Supplementary Immunization Activity (SIA) implemented by the Health Ministry in collaboration with the UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO) to curb the spread of measles and protect vulnerable children across the country has commence today (6).
Vaccination programme will be running from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Epidemiology Unit, focuses on children born between April 7, 2023, and July 5, 2023.
The extra doses of the measles vaccine are being given to children aged between 6 and 9 months in nine selected districts. They are: Colombo (including the CMC area), Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, Kandy, Jaffna, Kurunegala, and Kalmunai.
