Right outside the West Gate of the fabled Edwards AFB is a display of aircraft called the Century Circle, aircraft that were tested here.  Second fighter of the Century Series, this long-range escort fighter was first flown in 1954 and also served with the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Republic of China Air Force.  The F-101 took on multiple roles of interceptor, fighter-bomber, and photo reconnaissance.  Voodoos were also one of three types to be armed with the nuclear warhead AIR-2 Genie missile to nuke Russian bomber formations.  Over 800 Voodoos were built by the time production ended in 1961 but continued to operate until 1984.  Delivered in 1958, this ‘B’ model was a two-seat interceptor aircraft in service until retirement in 1976.  It became part of the Air Force Flight Test Center collection in 1984.
