October 2009

First flown in 1970, the DC-10 entered service with American Airlines in 1971.  In 1994 Hawaiian Airlines replaced their retired DC-8s and L-1011s with six DC-10s leased from American Airlines. The DC-10s were subsequently retired between 2002 and 2003.  These weathered aircraft still carry Hawaiian’s original 1975 Pualani logo.  The Mojave airport is also a storage facility for commercial airliners, due to the vast area and dry desert conditions.  Nikon D300 w/80-200mm, processed with Aperture.
