This HFD MD500, “Air 1”, would later take to the air for a flight demonstration as part of the 2007 Blues on the Bay Airshow. The Honolulu Fire Department currently operates two McDonnell-Douglas MD 520N helicopters. HFD helicopters respond to emergencies on Oahu, including over the ocean up to three miles offshore.
