Maybelline New York The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette

It’s all a bit gifty on the blog at the moment so I thought I’d break things up with a little beauty review. I’ve been on the look out for a neutral eyeshadow palette for ages but I didn’t want to go with the predictable Urban Decay Naked palette because, well, who needs another review of that? I’ve had my eye on this palette ever since I watched this tutorial on Youtube (see here for more things that bloggers made me buy) and I’m pleased to report that my eyes are overjoyed with it and you don’t have to re-mortgage your house to buy it! I’m absolutely obsessed with this YouTube channel and can often get sucked in for hours so don’t pop over to check it out unless you have a spare hour on your hands. There doesn’t seem to be much love out there in the blogosphere for Maybelline but some of my favorite beauty products at the moment are from Maybelline and I’m still enjoying the Fit Me foundation contouring sticks that I blogged about back in July.

Firstly, how cute are my bells! I actually bought them to put on presents as they come in handy when you have no idea how to wrap something. Why try and wrap a bottle of Baileys when you can hang a frosty gold bell on it? It turns out they make your blog posts all festive too! Right, back to the product. My absolute favorite thing about the Maybelline Nudes palette is that there isn’t any iffy shades that you don’t want to try. This would be a great gift idea as it features neutral colours that complement most skin-tones. There’s also a gorgeous mix of shimmery and matte shades that make it simple to create stunning festive looks. Because I’m an eye palette virgin (can you believe this is the first palette I’ve tried/featured on the blog?) I followed the above tutorial to the very last detail but I can’t wait to experiment with other combinations.

I’ve stuck to the neutral gold and brown shades as I think they suit my colourings the best. The palette comes with its own small brush but as there’s quite a lot of blending involved in a festive smoky eye look, I invested in the Real Techniques eyeshadow brush set from Boots which contains five different brushes.

Now, I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Real Techniques. I couldn’t live without the stippling brush but the foundation brush is a bit meh and don’t even get me started on the makeup sponge that eats your Chanel foundation before you can get in on your face. This being said the eye brushes do what they say on the tin. I can’t wait to use this eyeshadow palette over the festive period. It’s not the easiest product to track down as it’s not stocked in Boots but I found mine here on Amazon. I’ll be posting the finished look on my Instagram this weekend so make sure you’re following!
