Lei Day-- In 1929, Lei Day was made an official holiday in the territory, a tradition which was interrupted only during the years of World War II, and which continues today. Everyone is encouraged to wear a lei. Festivities were held downtown with hula, music, lei making demonstrations and exhibits and lei making contests. Source

Save a Rhino Day-- There are multiple threats to rhinos survival, nearly all of which are caused by humans. Over the past few decades, drastic decline in population numbers has been fueled by the illegal rhino horn trade, habitat loss and political conflict. Poaching of rhino horn for the production of traditional Chinese medicine is the greatest threat facing rhino today. Source

The day is now listed in many calendars of events and celebrated throughout the United States. It has been noted by municipalities, a cereal producer, banks, etc. and has a particular appeal to Kindergarten-Primary grades, libraries, and nursing homes. Source
