Birth Mother's Day-- The Saturday before Mother's Day is not a holiday marked on calendars, nor is it one in which Hallmark makes a card. It is not a holiday recognized by general society. A group of Seattle area birth mothers created this special day in an effort not only to educate, but more importantly, to honor and remember. The first gathering was on the Saturday before Mother's Day 1990. Source

Limerick Day-- Observed on the birthday of one of its champions, Edward Lear. The limerick, which dates from the early 18th century, has been described as the “only fixed verse form indigenous to the English language.” It gained its greatest popularity following the publication of Edward Lear’s Book of Nonsense (and its sequels). Florence Nightingale / International Nurses Day-- Florence Nightingale OM, RRC (12 May 1820 – 13 August 1910) was a celebrated English nurse, writer and statistician. She came to prominence for her pioneering work in nursing during the Crimean War, where she tended to wounded soldiers. International Nurses Day is celebrated on her birthday each year. Source
