Plot: When former black ops operative Cross (Seagal) and his partner Manning (Austin) are assigned to decommission an old prison, they must oversee the arrival of two mysterious female prisoners. Before long, an elite force of mercenaries’ assault the prison in search of the new arrivals. As the true identities of the women are revealed, Cross realizes he’s caught in the middle of something far bigger than he had imagined.
Verdict: Seagal Standard
Story: Looking at just the story it all works well, it has a few twists and turns along the way. The biggest weakness would be that all the support characters are your typical bad guys who can’t shot or fight at all. It lacks any real character development but there is a well created rivalry between Collins and Manning, leading you to just wait for their next encounter. In conclusion we get a simple straight to DVD standard action film you know what you will be getting so don’t expect brilliant just a film to enjoy. (7/10)
Actor Review
Steven Seagal: Cross the leader of the special security detail who has prisoners in the off the records location. When it gets compromised he uses his unique fighting techniques to get his prisoners back. Standard Seagal here, you know what you are getting here. (6/10)
Steve Austin: Manning partner of Cross who helps with the transport, he gets some of the funnier lines, for example after having his ass handed to him by a woman, he falls in love, yeah it happens. You know what will be happening with Austin, he just doesn’t have the charisma of other wrestlers turned actors. (6/10)
Michael Pare: Chris the leader of the group attacking the prisoner, who spends most of the time in the control room telling people what to do and where to go. Tries to be an original villain but ends up being plainer than most of them. (5/10)
Aliyah O’Brien: Charlotte one of the prisoners trying to escape, but she turns out to be on the other side and can handle herself in a fight. Good performance in a role that gets to show off some fighting skills to go against her evil side. (7/10)
Steph Song: Samantha the one everyone is after, because she has a secret on her but what is it and which side of the fence is she really on. Not the most convincing performance that I have seen in this type of role. (5/10)
Michael Adamthwaite: Collins the leader of the assault team who always ends up in a fight against Manning whether it is hand to hand or fire fight, he always seems to get away. Good performance creating a character you actually want to see get theirs. (7/10)
Director Review: Keoni Waxman – Basic direction to create an average action film that won’t live long in the memory. (5/10)
Action: Some good spells of action including solid hand to hand fights and fire fights. (7/10)
Thriller: Doesn’t really keep you at the edge of your seat. (4/10)
Settings: The setting works really well putting the heroes in a place that is small to complete the action in. (9/10)
Suggestion: The action junkies may enjoy this but I don’t think it will be one that will stick in the memories. (Action Fans Try)
Best Part: Collins and Manning rivalry.
Worst Part: Nothing original.
