Reading singer-songwriter Matt Maltese is set to release his new single ‘Even If It’s a Lie’ on 27 April, coinciding with shows with both Racing Glaciers and Tom Williams and the Boat.
In ‘Even If It’s a Lie’, a gentle and swooning piano glides underneath Matt’s winsome vocals as he opens his heart about how it feels to lose love… Heartfelt and pining, there’s a very personal feel to the song, especially when Matt sings about: ‘the colours in the dress you used to wear; the way you used to put up your golden hair’.
Falling somewhere between arena-style anthemics and the more intimate stylings of Ed Harcourt, Sharon Van Etten or Perfume Genius, Matt’s cracked voice perfectly complements the tender piano and marks him down as one to watch.
‘Even If It’s a Lie’ is released on 27 April.
