Mate Review – Taragui Yerba Mate

By Yerbamateblog

Hello there guys. How are you doing today. This week I’d like to make a new contribution to my Mate Review section of the blog by introducing another one of Argentina’s top yerba mate brands. I have recently drunk my way through a 500 gram pack of Taragüi Yerba Mate purchased on Amazon. Here is my experience with it.

First of all, let’s start with the brand. The word Taragüi comes from the Guaraní language and means Corrientes, a province in northeast Argentina, home to the Taragui brand. Today it is the leading yerba mate in the Argentinean market. This is a very traditional brand and it’s yerba has been harvested and produced in Las Marias by specialists of the branch since 1924.

This is a yerba mate with stems (con palo). The intense and genuine taste makes this a unique Yerba. A classic between the top yerba mate in Argentina. It is very intense and very fragrant. If you are just beginning your journey in the yerba mate world, then you will most certainly enjoy the less bitter taste that is characteristic of this blend of mate.

Due to the fact that this is a very large and established brand, you will never run into the problem that I have had recently. At the moment I am living in China, which is very far away from any country where yerba mate is readily available. Like most of you, I also rely on the internet to get my supply of mate. Sometimes I will  order a more exotic and rare blend, which I happened to find in some shop. After I try it, I become hooked. The problem is finding it again. I often find myself browsing through dozen of shops in vain. With Taragui this is never an issue. You will always find it anywhere yerba mate is sold. This is a very big plus.

For those of you who are obsessed with product quality, you will be happy to know that Taragüi has been awarded the Alimentos Argentinos, una elección natural Certificate (Argentine natural food choice Award).  This certification is awarded by the Ministry for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of Argentina, to products that assure the highest quality controls.

As always I am leaving you guys with a quick link where you can purchase this brand of mate for a fair price. You will also find a  quick video with a TV spot of the brand. I hope you enjoyed this review and I wish you all happy mate drinking.
