Season 7 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. lands on ABC, but do you remember season 6? Attention, it was particularly complex, so even simplified to the bare minimum, its summary remains ... loaded.

The season opened with the separate team: Daisy, Jemma, Piper and Davis in search of Fitz in space and Mack and May trying to recreate the academy of S.H.I.E.L.D. on earth, in a base called the Lighthouse. Phil Coulson is dead, and Mack is the director of the organization. The balance of the balance twists when on Earth appear several men arrived by magic portals, one of which is the carbon copy of the late Phil Coulson (he even has his voice). Stupor and tremors within the team.

Fitz's plot

Fitz wakes up from his cryogenization on a ship on which is also Enoch (a Chronicom alien). They were spotted by the crew and enslaved, before finally taking control of the aircraft and went to Kitson, where the crew could find work. On the spot, they steal their ship. Fitz then plays at the casino, hoping to be able to buy a new means of transport but is removed, like Daisy and his troop (arrived meanwhile on Kitson) by Atarah, the former superior of Enoch. They keep Fitz and Simmons together to help them discover the secret of time travel and send the others back to Earth.

The reunion between Fitz and Simmons is moving, and the couple manages to escape with Enoch and returns to Kitson, where they are hired by a certain Izel. She searches Earth for the artefacts they know as Monoliths (their real name Di'Allas). This is when Enoch leaves them after helping them again. Izel infects his crew with Howlers (Shrike in VO, parasites) and soon, only she and Fitz-Simmons remain on board the ship en route to Earth.

Mack, Yo-Yo and their agents attack the ship, Izel flees and the whole team is finally assembled to fight together against Sarge.

Sarge's plot

Sarge, who has the appearance and voice of Phil Coulson, lands on Earth and searches for piezoelectric gems and travels through magic portals. Understanding his resemblance to the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D., he exploited the weakness it created in his opponents. Sarge and his men search for normal-looking humans to pierce their hearts with a dagger, which kills the parasite that these bodies contained. This type of parasite is called "Howler", can destroy entire populations, and Sarge explains that it is there to hunt them.

When captured by S.H.I.E.L.D. during the Fitz-Simmons rescue mission, Sarge admits having had memories of Phil Coulson. The heroes also learn that he recovers from his injuries at very high speed. Meanwhile, Izel infiltrates the Lighthouse through his power of possession and announces that Sarge is called Pachakutiq, that they are from the same planet and that they are incorporeal beings that have bodies. At the same time, Fitz understands that the three monoliths represent space, time and creation. When they exploded (see end of season 5), their combined energy created a new Coulson and took it to another planet and to the past.

Izel in the temple

Izel takes Mack and Yo-Yo to an ancient temple and begins to rebuild the monoliths to create a portal that will allow his people to invade Earth. Daisy joins forces with May, Piper and Sarge (realizing that he has a part of Coulson's "soul"), but when he arrives, Sarge joins forces with Izel, seriously injuring May! In parallel, Chronicoms led by Malachi attack the Lighthouse to take control of the Earth. Everything seems lost for the agents.

But it is counting without their group strength and Mack finally manages to kill Sarge / Pachakutiq while May, dying, completes Izel, which closes the portal. While May is going to take her last breath, Fitz manages in extremis to place her in stasis. But the Chronicoms are in the process of destroying the temple, Fitz therefore makes everyone take a leap into the past, and the team finds itself in the 1930s. Finally, Simmons announces that the Chronicons remain a threat and that for them counter, she designed an LMD (Lure Mécanique Dupliqué) improved with Chronicons technology which has the appearance of Phil Coulson.

According to information given by Simmons about their arrival in the past (the ban on drinking alcohol) and the fact that the Empire State Building is soon finished, the team arrives in Manhattan around 1931! Agent Carter is only 10 years old, so we wouldn't see her again under her face of Hayley Atwell, who has played her adult since 2013.

Within the S.H.I.E.L.D.

The season was marked by a reunion that was first missed and then confirmed between Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons, who had been separated for too long. If you are a few seasons behind, their fate and relationship is worth the vision of the series. Mack and Yo-Yo finally reconcile. May and Daisy continue their personal work to recover from the death of Phil Coulson, despite his "return" via the character of Sarge, who will once again break their grief.

Daisy facing Sarge ... or Coulson?

As for Deke Shaw (grandson of Fitz-Simmons), he set up a technological empire by stealing equipment belonging to S.H.I.E.L.D., he ends up saving the lives of his comrades in the organization and finds himself promoted to Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Note that May is between life and death but that Simmons is confident and that Coulson is once again (at least in appearance) back.
