Maruti eVX Spotted Testing

India’s largest passenger vehicle maker, Maruti Suzuki, is still a bit behind in the launch of electric cars. But it is not too late. The Indo-Japanese company is expected to launch its first electric vehicle in the second half of 2024. The car is likely to be unveiled at this year’s Auto-Expo. It will be based on the company’s eVX concept version.

Testing of Maruti eVX is going on in full swing

Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki’s first electric car has been spotted testing in southern Europe wrapped in full camouflage. The test was being conducted in scorching heat. While the design looks largely similar to the concept model, the production version is expected to have some minor changes.

The front of the Maruti Suzuki eVX concept version features a blank-off grille, V-shaped headlamps, LED DRLs, and a squarish hood. Again the wheel arches, wind screen and sloping roofline of the tail gate add new dimensions to the vision. The electric SUV has a higher ground clearance. Its length, width and height can be 4,300 mm, 1,800 mm and 1,600 mm respectively.

Maruti Suzuki has announced a 60 kWh battery pack in its upcoming eVX. It will be able to run 550 km on a full charge. Actual range can be up to 500 km. Also, the entry-level version of Maruti’s electric car could come with a 48 kWh battery pack. It is estimated that it can run for 400 km on a full charge.

Incidentally, Suzuki Motor Corporation has already announced plans to invest Rs 10,000 crore in India. This investment will be used to make electric vehicle batteries. The Maruti eVX will compete with the upcoming Tata Curvv and Hyundai Creta EV in the country after its launch.
