The Martin Marietta SM-68A/HGM-25A Titan I was the United States’ first multistage intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), in use from 1959 until 1962. Powered by two of these early Aerojet LR87 engines, the Titan I burned RP-1 and liquid oxygen to generate 300,000 lbs of thrust. This particular Titan 1 was likely was a left-over from the 395th Missile Training Squadron at Vandenberg AFB, and ended up at California Polytechnic College in San Luis Obispo, CA in early 1969.
