Marie-Thé Salon De Thé

LOLA-1

Next door to the gallery where our exhibition was, is the most adorable Salon de Thé and café. The owner Lola, is like an earth mother and fed Meredith and I daily during our gallery stints.

All the desserts are home made and after having my favorite salad, scrumptious, fried, crunchy chevre on a bed of greens, Lola plopped a red berry crumble in front me which I downed in a nanosecond.  Meredith had her daily fix of the light as air cheesecake, which tasted more like cheese flavored whipped cream than cheesecake. One night I had the moussaka, which was baked in a gratin dish, although the portion was a tad small, it was tender and hearty and for lunch I had the chicken tagine.
Lola has had Marie-Thé for over 25 years and is a neighborhood fixture, as I watched her warmly greeting neighbors constantly passing by to either have a bite or drink or to just say hello. When Meredith and I packed up the exhibition last Friday, we hugged Lola goodbye but said a bientot, as we will see her again very soon.
Marie-Thé serves breakfast and lunch and on Saturday and Sunday, American style brunch. The menu has a wide selection of salads, quiches, pastas, and main courses. Scones with butter and jam are served with afternoon tea.
