Story: Margrete: Queen of the North starts as we see the union between the Nordic countries created by Quenn Margrete (Dyrholm) along with her adopted son King Erik (Andersen), where she will give a hands-on approach to solving any problems between the countries.

When a stranger arrives claiming to be Margrete’s long thought to be dead son, her position in the union is put under question, risking everything she has put together, as the peace between the nations could be shattered.

Thoughts on Margrete: Queen of the North

ThoughtsMargrete: Queen of the North is a historical biopic looking into the life of the Queen of the North, who bought the Nordic countries together in a union, but sees it all shattered when people decide they want their own power. The story is based on the real royal drama for power, played out like some of the more modern non-supernatural elements of a Game of Thrones. We will see how the people of the Nordic region were put through the extremes of letting one or two people have power over them, no matter what was going on, leading to the potential downfall of one of the most powerful modern unions in Europe. This will also create one of the biggest mysteries of all time in history, leading to everything being left unsolved. The performances in the film are great, which will only help continue to build the scheming side of things.

Signature Entertainment presents Margrete – Queen of the North on Digital Platforms 14th March.

Final Thoughts Margrete: Queen of the North is an interesting dive into the history of the Nordic union.
