March Beauty Empties

By Aworldfullofprettiness
I don't think I've ever done a blog post on my monthly empties before...although I've done several videos on them (which you will find here). So this month I thought I'd give you a treat, seeing as though my blogging mojo seems to be making an appearance again, I feel like I'm in full swing!
If you're not a Youtube kinda girl (or guy!) then let me do a little intro here - I started these empties videos at the beginning of this year.. I made a promise to myself to film both an monthly empties video as well as a monthly favourites video, and so far so good. I absolutely love gathering my empties products up.. I have a whole drawer dedicated to empty bottles of shower gel, empty tubes of handcream, lipsticks that are non-existant, body creams that not even an ant would find its sweet kick from. If anyone was to look through my drawers they would think I was some kind of loser. Thank god I do get to throw these out at the end of every month mind, because I can gather up quite a pile. But thats not what I love about it - I've always been one of those girls that is a bit of a product junkie.. no way near as bad as some.. but if you was to walk in my bathroom, you'd find at least 5 shower creams on the go. And 4 deodorants, and body creams? Argh, don't get me started on them - I think I have enough to last me a lifetime. Why oh why do we feel the need to buy stuff that we already have a million of? Let me tell you why - because the novelty of new things wears off too quickly, we go in a shop, the packaging of a product takes our fancy, or the hype around a product excites us, or the smell or color of something does something to us that tells us 'Yes, you have 10 of me at home, but you need to buy me too'. Its exciting. You take it home, and within a week, that new item soon becomes old, you get 'bored', and the whole cycle starts again!
This 'monthly empties' genius makes me use products up that would still be sat there on my shelf right now. I get a buzz (yes, a buzz) when I finish a product and throw it in my dedicated empties drawer. I love watching the drawer fill up. Not only that but I love knowing that I am saving money because I am using products up that I would have just replaced with more products, just because they became 'boring' and I couldnt 'be bothered' to use them up. I'm that shrewd now that I do everything in my willpower to use a product up that maybe I don't like, maybe because of the fragrance or whatever. And by god do I get a buzz out of finishing a product that I actually hated. Instead of throwing it in the bin, I made myself use it (unless, obviously if it caused me some huge outbreak of gigantic spots or reaction then I'd steer clear). Last night I used a product up that I received as part of a present - its been sat there since Christmas and I have not once touched it because.. its never appealed to me. Last night I made myself use it (I did use the whole tube of it in one go mind, but I'll explain why in my April Empties!).
I'm also subscribed to 2 beauty boxes so as you can imagine, the samples start to stack up pretty quickly, so doing this encourages me to start using them instead of sticking them in my traveling box, 'just incase' I ever go for a weekend away. I am going away this year, but for 2 weeks, so the majority of those samples wont suffice for 2 weeks!
I could go on and on about how great it makes me feel to use old products up, but I feel I should get onto the actual photographic evidence... the interesting bit...

I'm not going to talk my way through each and every product but if you are interested in my opinions then keep your eyes peeled for my March Empties video that will be going up on my YT channel within the next few days.
Instead I will pick 1 monthly favorite out of my pile and 1 product I wouldn't recommend...
My favorite is a hard one to choose from because I had several from this month, but I've settled on the Johnsons Dreamy Skin night facial cleansing wipes. First time I've ever tried this. Perfect level of moisture to the wipe, smelt divine, removes waterproof mascara, and was really soft and gentle on the skin. Wipe was a nice size too and of a good thickness. Definitely would repurchase these.
My not so favorite...Nivea invisible 48hr wear deodorant. I have tried this before but really can't remember having any problems with it. This (without saying too much!) didn't do what it says on the tin (and no, I'm not getting at the 48hr wear!). I'm not a 'sweaty' kinda person, but this didn't keep me very fresh! Yuck!
Does anyone else get a buzz out of finishing a product?!
