Marc Jacobs Beauty

Finally got my hands on some of Marc Jacobs Beauty range while I was in New York. Until recently it wasn’t available in the UK but according to the (excellent, I must say) shop assistant in the NY Beauty store it is available in London now. Also you can get it in Sephora.

Anyway, I’d read a lot of good reviews about it so far, especially the Magic Marc’er so I had to get my hands on some. The Beauty store (on Bleecker Street) is so good, the girl who served me was the height of helpful and had loads of great advice about the products.

These are the products I came away with:

Lovemarc – Matte Lip Gel in Scandal

Magic Marc’er – Precision Pen Eyeliner

Highliner – Gel Crayon in Nice

And I’m really genuinely impressed with them all. The lip gel is super nice and semi matte, very creamy and a pleasure to wear. Plus Scandal is a great bright, shade.

The Magic Marc’er is the best pen liquid liner I’ve ever used and, let me tell you, I’ve tried loads of them. I was previously really taken with the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner (available at Sephora) but that has a thicker brush and as it isn’t available in the UK I always went back to normal liquid. This one is really good so far though, really fine point for getting a small, smooth line, and it never seems to get dry and have that horrible effect of rubbing off what you’ve just done like many other pen liners. Very very impressed.

The Highliner Crayon is also great, I was tempted to get this in black too but the girl recommended this silver shade for the corners of the eyes and I’m so glad I went for it, it’s absolutely lovely and really adds something to my usual basic eyeliner look. It’s a really soft crayon but it goes on really nicely too and simply screws at the end to access more as it wears down. In black it would make a great thick kohl liner.

I tried out one of the nail varnishes in the store too. Lovely colours and lovely packaging and it seemed to go on quite well in one coat but the reviews on the site all seem to say it chips pretty easily which is disappointing, considering the price for a nail varnish. I’d be interested to try out some of the other products in the range in the future too, especially the Perfect Powder – Featherweight Foundation, which sounds like it feels great but potentially doesn’t last very long…
