A nail design most apt for the Chinese New Year – no doubt you’ll turn heads with this.
You probably can earn a few ang pows doing a lion finger dance too! LOL
I have heard of and passed by this shop many times while on my way to Raffles Hotel or Chin Chin/Yet Con nearby for my chicken rice/steamboat fix before I finally made time to check the place out. I wasn’t disappointed.
Featuring a nail parlour, retail store and café, the little hideaway is best described as a meticulously curated ladies experience. The quirky store may well have been called “Manly-curious”, as it is actually founded by three men Shawn Tan, Justin Chow and Wong Yijin who met at university. If they can understand women as well as this, I must say their spouses are lucky lasses.
Nope, I didn’t go for the festive lion nail art, went for something simpler but just as festive – different shades of red & pink!
An enticing storefront sign. They got me at ‘pie’
The retail store features New York-based futurist brand Nooka’s first pop up concept store outside of the United States, which is most prominently known for its line of contemporary timepieces.
Manicurious the nail parlor welcomed me with its vintage-inspired interior of retro lounge chairs, bronze taps and porcelain basins. I should have put on my rockabilly skirt or a beehive hairdo.
I believe in feasting over Chinese New Year and not getting fat
I believe in being a Sleeping Beauty
I believe I help the economy by shopping
I believe in fairy tales and Prince Charming
I believe D will appear now to smack me back to reality. Ouch.
I opted for an organic mani and pedi for my poor, battered nails. Am a sucker for organic treats.
Giggling through my foot mask…teeheehee
Have a cuppa while u do your pedicure.
The café experience does not disappoint with its offerings of Windowsill Pies, Papa Palheta’s signature Terra Firma Blend (the coffee every local in the know swears by) and special tea blends. Drinks are affordably priced from S$3 that the boyfriend would approve and happily sip a cuppa while waiting for the missus to finish her manicure.
Manicure x Latte = Bliss in the City
Glitter in all colours – So Simply Me! Ahhh…life’s good. Oink Oink.
Manicurious has one of the most nail art designs I have come across. And what I like is – they are not afraid to experiment. In fact, you can bring your favourite photo, outfit, whatever and ask them to do a matching nail art design, cool huh.
Little Twin Stars – me like! Moo…
Literally killer nails. Kickass cool.
Blue or Purple? Can’t decide, so did both colours. Kinda nice.
After treating your hands, feet and stomach, check out the retail space offering quirky finds from indie labels like The Little Dröm Store, By Invite Only, L’ile Aux Ashby, Cookie Cutter and Nooka.
Retail space. I dunno where to begin.
These stackable colourful silicone diamond rings from Italian brand Duepunti caught my eye. It goes so well with my new nail colour!
What a clever and pretty display. Now I know where to hang my many necklaces. My Dad’s bonsai is in trouble *evil smile*
Check out these cool shades from Ksubi. I have the orange shades on the left, and am aiming the leopard one.
So pretty!
Buy Buy Buy!
Bunny would approve. And that’s a pair of shades with a real wooden frame above.
Cute brooches. The product display is even cuter, so clever.
An accessory series inspired by Singapore’s old playgrounds
A dress you can wear everyday.
Local designer By Invite Only. I recently got a necklace from this brand at MAAD.
A watch to match every outfit you have. I would just wear 3 on each hand since I am so colourful.
Cheery felt flower broches
Oh so futuristic cool
Check out the special collaborations between Nooka and local design talents while you are at the store
