By Newguy

logoDirector: Franck Khalfoun

Writer: Alexandre Aja, Gregory Levasseur (Screenplay) Joe Spinell (Original Screenplay)

Starring: Elijah Wood, Nora Arnezeder, Genevieve Alaxandra, Liane Balaban, Jan Broberg, Megan Duffy, Dan Hunter, Bryan Lugo, Sal Landi, America Olivo

Plot: Frank (Wood) the owner of a mannequin shop has a very dark and disturbing side. Frank has a split personality and one of those personalities likes to scalp woman and use their hair on his mannequins to create relationships he can’t have in the real world. This becomes hard for Frank when a young artist Anna (Arnezeder) comes along and takes an interest in his work.

Verdict: A dark horror remake

Story: The fact this is a remake loses it originality points with me, but I have never seen the original. I found the story to be very good with the aspects of a disturbed childhood turning our Frank into a psycho much like Normal Bates. The point of view of Frank is brilliant lets us get into his mind set at times. The kills are all very dark and bloody. (8/10)

Actor Review: Elijah Wood – Frank the mannequin man who dark side seems to get the best of him. This was one brave move by Elijah after playing such an iconic character in Lord Of The Rings. It works as he is brilliant throughout. Star Performance Award (9/10)

Actor Review: Nora Arnezeder – Anna a young artist who takes a shine to Frank’s work and uses it for her art exhibition. Good performance but will easily be forgotten next to Wood’s. (6/10)

Director Review: Franck Khalfoun – Creates a very dark film that could easily stand up to the modern horror gore films. (8/10)

Horror: With some of the bloodiest deaths in recent horror this is one great horror film. (9/10)

Thriller: The kills very rarely build up but the wait to see when Frank will snap is good throughout. (7/10)

Special Effects: Great bloody special effects with extra credit for the final one. (10/10)

Believability: Like some serial killer films this is really one that could have been real. (3/10)

Chances of Tears: No (0/10)

Settings: The mannequin shop is creepy setting but all the rest are random and where the victim is. (8/10)

Suggestion: This is definitely one for the horror fans only; it will be too violent for the more casual fan. (Horror Fans Watch)

Best Part: The final outcome of Frank.

Worst Part: Not enough significant supporting characters.

Kill Of The Film: The final one

Oscar Chances: No

Chances of Sequel:

Similar Too: May

Overall: Dark, Twist, Creepy, Modern Horror Gold
