MANDARIN ORIENTAL, Bangkok, Thailand

By Jaclynsindia @siennacharles

After getting off 14 hours of flying from NYC to BKK, being picked up at the airport by Mandarin and being ushered directly to my room within minutes was incredible. They anticipated my needs as a traveler knowing I was tired, jet lagged and not interested in spinning in front of a check in desk, or making small talk. Within seconds of being " checked-in" in-room I was in the bath unwinding as if I was in Thailand all along...

I dined at the theatrical Thai restaurant that evening, while the food wasn't the most incredible the show certainly was. It was a great entry into the culture, to sit and unwind and really take in where we were. The restaurant, Sala Rim Naam only accessible by river boat gave us a great chance to see at night to immediately see the bustling dining and drinking outlets at the hotel.

The next morning, I awoke, fresh and recharged in the always comfortable Mandarin bed, ready for my first Thai Massage. I have always been an advocate of the Mandarin Spas. They do , in my opinion the best job with incredible services custom tailored to me and my preferences. Back at the room, anything we called the front desk for was brought in seconds with a genuine smile. This hotel has always been on the top of ever best hotel list in the world. To me, the website does it no justice at all. Which may be a good thing because it leaves all the beauty and splendor left to be discovered only in person. After my massage, I used a Mandarin car and driver to tour the city and it was another perfect experience as usual.
