You're Leaving Everything Until the Last Minute

Leaving prep until the last minute is a recipe for disaster. Still, it's a mistake many managers make. You may merely put presentation prep to the side until the day before. That'll give you plenty of time, right? In theory, yes, but it's important to note that this rarely works out.

I ssues and setbacks could see you up all night trying to get things ready. And, a lack of sleep is the last thing you need before presentation day . Make sure it never happens again by taking time to delegate preparation at least a week in advance.

That way, you'll have plenty of time to tackle issues and still get a good night's sleep before the big event!

As a matter of fact, I remember many times over the years on the day of the presentation the printer did not work. Or worse, my company ran out of supplies to complete making the presentations. 🙁

Other times we were ready to present digitally and technical difficulties came along. Therefore, always be prepared to go back to the old fashion way of presenting if technical issues come up! Today I always print out what I'll be presenting for a leave behind and in case diaster strikes.

You're Afraid to Hand Over the Reins

As a manager, it makes sense that you want to take care of these meetings yourself. No one knows your business better than you, after all. The trouble is that taking every business presentation on your shoulders is too much responsibility.

By handing over the reins when you're busy, you could eliminate any panic you've felt until now. All you need to do is train up a second in command , and make sure they know how you want things to go. Then, you'll be able to stay a whole lot calmer about everything.

Practice Beforehand Giving Your Business Presentation

Lastly, do practice talking the presentation out loud before giving it. This will help you become more comfortable presenting.

Another thing I often do is to video myself giving it. Then I can watch and see where I need to improve before the big day. I do the same for my training sessions.
