A defendant who testified before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court in tears said that he suffered injustice for eleven years due to not choosing a senior lawyer to appear in his case.
He also stated that the three suspects who hired this senior lawyer as their Counsel were released from the case.
He was an accused of illegally arranging for a person to travel to Italy with an illegal flight permit by violating the Immigration Act. The Defence Counsel stated that there has been a great injustice to his client. State Counsel appearing on behalf of the Attorney General asked court to make an appropriate order based on the facts presented before court. After taking the facts into consideration, the Magistrate fixed the order for February 23.
