Hi, my name’s Daisybutter and I turned 5 years old today! Well well well, what do we have here? I’ve only gone and reached a 5-year milestone with the blog, haven’t I?
I wasn’t 100% sure if I’d post today but seeing as I’ve done a similar post for each year, I wasn’t about to give up on tradition. Last year I mentioned that I felt like Daisybutter was finally growing into its own, a smidgen of a step away from fashion and beauty blogs with its own quirks and beginning to develop into an online place to stash a bit of, well, everything. And this time round I can certainly say that the past 12 months of posts are some I can be proud of.
I started this blog at University and the lifestyle I led then is almost 180° away from mine now. Gone are the days of many spare hours, huge batches of student loan (not free money…) and buying dresses from Primark for two English pounds, but also gone are the days of frivolously spending all of the money from my first grown-up job on more lipsticks, burgers, handbags and whatever else I impulse bought, than anyone ever needs. Instead, I feel like I grew up a LOT this past year and I switched up the blog to consciously include more lifestyle snippets which is kinda right for this stage in my life. Faux-deep thoughts.
This year has seen me introduce handpicked contributors to the blog, amp it up on the written features front and completely diversify the posts that I wrote. I downplayed the outfits – although I think I’ll be bringing more back soon – and upped the sharing of my thoughts and opinions whilst finally bringing more of my personality into the mix. I went on a bloggers’ holiday, had a bloggers’ hotel sleepover, made a TV advert with Bose and worked with Nintendo again. I got to work with YSL Beauté and I covered LFW again. Most notably though: I moved to Hong Kong and hauled DB along for the ride.
So before little Daisy turns 6? I want this blog to reach its best again (it was so colourful and full of comments in 2011!). I want to share more outfits, more travel and fully document my time here in HK. I also want to try and use this platform for good and also to become a place to read and buy pretty things with plenty of personality. I think my content will continue to shift again but more to include snippets about decorating and living in small spaces, having my 'first apartment' and also some recipes again - hallelujah!
Thanks for sticking around – let's have some imaginary birthday cake! (It’s vanilla sponge with strawberries and buttercream.) As a party favour, pretty please feel free to leave me some honest feedback in the below survey ^____~
