Chimes Square, a building along Congressional Avenue Extension opened in 2014. This building featured great restaurants which resulted in Chimes Square being my family's go-to place when we dine out. But in 2018 some of those restaurants started closing its doors which left me sad. Congressional Avenue Extension became quieter especially since the food parks around the area already closed down.

Fast forward to January 2019 when my Ninong and I passed 7-Eleven in Chimes Square, we noticed a large fridge standing outside the closed space next door. When we took a closer look, this large fridge stores several mini cakes and a few whole cakes. Then a guy approached us and offered a free taste. I wasn't interested but the moment he said the other one is dark chocolate, I was game.

Let me tell you, that one bite made me buy one Belgian Dark Chocolate mini cake. I actually wanted to buy both mini cakes but I didn't bring enough money. I was honestly just there to buy a cup of 7-Eleven's City Blends. 🙂

I'm not really sure when their cafe opened but I think by February 2019, I've been seeing posts that they are officially open. And recently, we finally got the chance to visit them.

The Bakery Cafe

As mentioned, they are located in Chimes Square right next to 7-Eleven. Upon entering, you will be greeted by their wonderful staff because right in front is the counter and on the left is a small seating area for two people. There are actually more seats on the second floor but since I was with my abuelita, we opted that small but cosy space on the left.

Yes, it is indeed cosy because of their seat are comfortable and their place is just neat. It's also well-ventilated and bright which matches their earthy and minimalist interior. Now onto their offerings.

The Cakes & The Cakeshakes

Frank & Carol's has five cake creations - Belgian Milk Chocolate Cake, Belgian Dark Chocolate Cake, Blueberry Cheesecake, Strawberry Shortcake Cheesecake and Triple Decker Cheesecake. Each is handcrafted which for me is a plus point because honestly, the taste and quality of their cakes are consistent.

We already tried their Belgian Milk Chocolate Cake and Belgian Dark Chocolate Cake in the past. Then recently we got a slice of the dark again along with a slice of Blueberry Cheesecake as well as Strawberry Shortcake Cheesecake. I can confirm that their cakes are indeed premium and absolutely perfect all occasions. You just have to choose which one you like.

If you can't choose one, well good news! Frank & Carol's has a Sampler or simply 5 cakes in one! For PHP 1300, you get to an 8-inch cake which features all their cake creations. Yes, their prices are quite steep but once you taste their cakes you will understand why.

Besides cakes, we also ordered one fo their Cakeshakes creation. Since we already tasted four flavours, I decided to get the Triple Decker Cheesecake Cakeshake version. Honestly, it's good but it's too sweet for me. I think kids or people who choose 100% sugar level on milk teas will love this.

Are you celebrating a special occasion soon, maybe a birthday or sending a special someone a cake this Valentine's Day? Frank & Carol's got your back.

You can find them on the ground floor of Chimes Square, Congressional Avenue Extension Corner T.M Kalaw Street, Culiat, Tandang Sora, Quezon City. You can also call them on 02 77578995.

Happy eating!
