No-fee hotel bookings: The blockchain is the key to the future of the travel business. At the moment, they use NFTs to sell travel goods that can be resold if the buyer can’t go.

NFTs are used in the new reservation system from the Italian company Takyon. The company wants to completely change how people think about travel.

The process will be based on what are called “resellable rates.” If a guest can’t use their reservation, they can sell it or give it to someone else at a price that can be resold. In the current economy, which is unstable and full of changes, this new product has come to be.

When a guest books a room at a rate that can be resold, the business makes a non-fungible token (NFT) that represents the property. Since it is not backed by any government, it can be sent to any user, anywhere in the world, in a way that is safe and easy to check. This can happen even if the people involved don’t know each other. They don’t have to be trustworthy with each other.

Hotel reservations that can’t be canceled

Antonio Picozzi, Giuseppe Monteleone, and Niccol Francesco Marino, three young businesspeople, came up with the idea for Takyon. The goal is to change the market for booking travel in Italy. Since the company started, its website has had more than 1,300 visitors, and it has 5,000 followers on Instagram.

Takyon wants to be the place where people can book NFT Hotel stays and experiences, giving them flexibility, sustainability, and uniqueness.

The company can turn a reservation into a digital asset (NFT) by taking out the name of the buyer and letting it be sold again. In the process, they come up with a resale rate, which is a prepayment reservation cost that can’t be refunded. It is 20% cheaper than the average rate that can be refunded.

We need new paradigms

Antonio Picozzi is the CEO and one of the founders of Takyon. He says that travel services and, by extension, hotels need a new model that makes the same things easier to do than they have been for decades. Antonio sees the NFT Hotel as the piece of the puzzle that is missing.

“We want to create a new paradigm in the world of travel booking. This implies moving from the current logic of reserve nominality to having a reserve in the form of NFTs. By doing so, our users will be able to exchange trips and create unique experiences and memories.”

Giuseppe Monteleone is the company’s co-founder and head of marketing. He would rather talk about benefits than changes.

“There are many benefits for all players in the travel industry and our partners are supporting us. A few days ago we published the first NFT with the Grand Hotel Victoria. It is a flagship property on Lake Como. Other partners are joining us to receive the exclusive benefits of being part of our network.”
