Donald Trump continues to attack major media outlets as being untrustworthy (i.e., "fake news"). He hopes that those attacks will convince the public that his lies and mistakes can be overlooked. But he is not having much success with that campaign against the media. Only his trumpistas are willing to believe him over the media (except for Fox -- the only media outlet that does not have the trust of a majority of Americans).
It turns out that Americans believe Trump is dishonest by a 19 point margin (57% to 38%). And they trust the major media outlets more by between a 13 and 17 point margin. Most people understand that the White House is now occupied by a man who has no regard for the truth.
These charts reflect information from a recent Public Policy Polling survey -- done on December 11th and 12th of a random national sample of 862 registered voters, with a 3.3 point margin of error.
