A couple of weeks ago, we reviewed a Pilsner from Belgium called Bavik Super Pils. On today's episode of A Tasting at The Murder Table, we're going to try a Pilsner from one of our favorite breweries, Maine Beer Company (MBC).
Before we get to the review, here are a few words about MBC's Prince Percy Pilsner which were taken directly from their website:
Named after the Greek hero Perseus for the constellation pattern on his back, Percy, the spotted turtle, serves as one of the Center for Wildlife's animal ambassadors. He reminds us of the importance of preserving wetlands and vernal pools that are home to turtles and a diverse range of interconnected species.Hopped with Grüngeist hops, and featuring local Maine malted grains, this lager represents a shift from our classic ale lineup, with a nod to our hop-forward focus.Flavor Profile: aromas of citrus (lemon, lime), fresh cut grass, bread crust, subtle notes of sulfur and underlying floral aromas.MBC's usual offerings usually entail Pale Ales and IPAs, so it's always good to see a brewery stretch its wings a bit by trying a different style.
