Mailbox Monday for August 26, 2013
I haven't posted on books which arrived in July and most of August until it is now embarrassingly late to do so. But the books above are what arrived this week, and therefore worthy of mention.
First up is the latest release from the Nordic noir authors who brought us The Boy in The Suitcase; it is entitled Death of a Nightingale. "This haunting, ingeniously plotted thriller demonstrates that the sins of modern Europe--racism, human trafficking, and thuggish paramilitary-run organized crime--have evolved out of the failed ideas of Europe's past." Death of a Nightingale is a Publishers Weekly Top 10 Mystery for Fall 2013.
Next is Coco's Secret from Penguin by Niamh Greene, an Irish author who is new to me. "Coco's Secret is a gripping and thoroughly satisfying story about a young women finally finding courage to become the kind of woman she always had it in her to be. It will go straight to readers' hearts just like her previous bestselling novels, including the bestselling and award-nominated Secret Diary of a Demented Housewife."
Finally is a new release from Soho Teen entitled Relic. "For fans of A Game of Thrones and The Hunger Games: high fantasy and dystopia meet in this high-stakes tale of a civilization built on lies and the girl who single-handedly brings it down."
Thanks to the host of Mailbox Monday for sponsoring this weekly event.
