Magda and Kamil are originally from Poland but live in New York City. They met at Coney Island, New York, through a mutual friend, and had been together for six years before getting married. They got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2015.
I asked them why marriage was important to them, “because marriage is telling a person that whatever happens you will be right there by their side, it is like sealing a long lasting friendship,” said Magda.
They only discussed a few options for where they wanted their wedding ceremony. They know New York City well, and Central Park was an easy choice for them. They chose the Ladies’ Pavilion for their ceremony location. They liked it because it was beside the Lake and they would have the view in the background while they said their vows.
They had our violinist play for them at their ceremony. The Ladies’ Pavilion has a foliage-lined pathway that leads to it, that kind of acts like an aisle for a bride. So, as Magda approached the violinist played Ave Maria as her wedding march, and once they were pronounced husband and wife, she played I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You. She also played a little while the guests were waiting for Magda to arrive, and while they all signed their paperwork after the ceremony.
Magda wore an ivory dress from David’s Bridal and mint green shoes from Call It Spring, she had her nails done to match her shoes, and she made her bouquet herself from calla lilies, again, to complement the mint green accessories.
Magda’s dad was there to give her away, and Kamil’s mother was there too. They also had some friends as guests. They have family members and friends back home in Poland that were unfortunately unable to attend, but they will enjoy the photos. After the wedding they went back to their home in Brooklyn for a relaxed and fun BBQ party.
