Colin Kaepernick is returning to football - at least to the virtual grid. Madden NFL 21, the latest version of game giant EA's popular soccer video game, announced the addition of Kaepernick via Twitter on Tuesday. Kaepernick will join the free agent pool so you can use it on your team in Dynasty mode - where you manage a team across multiple seasons - as well as Play Now mode, where you can just play hop into a game.
The tweet that announced the game's free update praised Kaepernick as a starting quarterback and one of the best free agents in the league. Kaepernick should have stats that make him an engaging free agent as they should be in line with other starting QBs.

Colin Kaepernick has not played a game in real football since January 2017. In the fall of 2016, at the beginning of the Games, he protested the national anthem by sitting or kneeling during the song to raise awareness of racial injustices in the country. He became an off-season free agent and has not been signed since. Both the protest and the fact that he was not signed after a successful career as a starting quarterback were controversial.
