Lucknow News: The UP Police has imposed a Gangster Act on those accused of violent demonstrations in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). In Lucknow, on December 19 last year, there was a protest against the CAA and NRC. Violence erupted during this demonstration.
In a statement issued from the Police Commissionerate Lucknow, it has been said that action has been taken under the Gangster Act against the 27 accused named and exposed in the violent disturbance on 19 December.
The police, in their press note, also mentioned the names of all the 27 accused and their father’s name. Giving information about the allegations, the police said that the accused broke the outpost Satkhanda Farukhi Mosque Kasim Ali Pulia, Hussainabad and other government institutions. The police have also accused them of looting and arson.
The police allege that the miscreants opened fire on the outpost with the intention of killing them while firing on the police party. Apart from this, according to the police, they also set fire to private and public vehicles.
The police say that their crime is of a serious nature and this has led to panic in the public. Law and order was severely affected by this.
Later, the police filed a case against the accused. The police say that the accused have been arrested during the investigation of the case. The police allege that the accused have systematically destroyed the law and order.
