Low Fat Vanilla Bean Frozen Yogurt

Spring is just around the corner and the legs you have been hiding under layers of warm clothing are about to come out and make their warm weather appearance. If you are starting to dread skirt weather, it is not too early to start on the path towards healthy eating- while feeding your appetite for ice cream.

Before you spend too much money at your local fro-yo bar, consider making this simple and versatile recipe at home. Use your vanilla frozen yogurt as a base and top with wonderful fruits or small little treats. It will taste so good that you will barely realize that it is weight friendly!

Low Fat Vanilla Bean Frozen Yogurt

You’ll Need:

  • 1 1/2 cups plain whole-milk yogurt
  • 2 1/2 cups plain fat free Greek yogurt
  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3 1/2 tbsp honey

 

Directions:

  1. Laterally slice the vanilla bean and scrap out the seeds into a small bowl. Discard the skin.
  2. Combine the sugar and seeds into a bowl and mix until fully incorporated.
  3. Whisk the yogurts, sugar mixture, and honey.
  4. Pour into an ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacture’s instructions.
  5. Freeze for two hours and enjoy.
