"I'd moved back to the UK from Dubai in 2019 and was eager to meet someone. An our mutual friend, who was also one of my bridesmaid and MC on the day (yeah we really put her to work!) did a matchmaking and set Harry and me up! He called me and we had our first date at Soho Farmhouse in the Cotswolds. An evening of great chat and drinks around a fire, it was perfect. Five years later he proposed in the same place on a weekend away. "
"I designed the ring myself with the help of a friend who is a jeweller. We incorporated some diamonds from my dad's watch that he'd left me a few years before. How could she say no!? "(Groom, Harry)
"We really gave our florist Aegli from White Truffle free rein to do whatever she liked. We just didn't want the typical autumn colours and instead opted for some soft pinks to bring a pop of colour to the venue. Her creativity was really what drew us to booking her. She also got along so well with our planners from Wonderlust Events. Together they really created a unique look and something way above our expectations. Being a wedding photographer myself some of my favorite events are when the couple really makes the space their own, instead of adhering to a venue's aesthetic. "For me, my favourite moment hands down was walking down the aisle with my dad. We had the typical English style procession outside the church as music wasn't allowed inside. My make-up artist actually sang one of our favourite songs, Friday I'm in Love by The Cure, and she absolutely nailed it. It's handy to have multi-talented partners!! Hearing everyone clap and cheer as I got out the car, and Harry's reaction when he saw me was just priceless. I knew he'd cry! "
"I was very much the chilled bride dealing with Groomzilla, who got involved with everything from choosing the bridesmaid dresses, to forcing his mother and auntie to sew 150 napkins that weren't available to hire in Cyprus. Seriously though, Harry did a great job, and it was all the small personal and handmade touches that really made our day so special, like the napkin production line and Harry's cousin driving me to the church in his vintage Mercedes."
"Marry a wedding photographer and let him do most of the planning! Seriously though, Harry and I are quite indecisive people, so with having 5 months to plan our wedding we had to make quick decisions. I honestly don't know how couples plan a wedding for 2+ years! Even as we got closer to the date Harry wanted to change the chairs, so having not a lot of time stopped us from going crazy. So I guess our advice here If it works for you is don't let wedding planning consume your life. You really don't need much time, you just need to use your time wisely, make quick decisions, trust your partners and ask what they recommend. Also I must say a planner makes a world of difference on the day. Especially if you are planning from abroad. Worth every penny! Also, if you are a fellow Cypriot planning a wedding, tell your Cypriot guests to arrive to the church an hour before they actually need to be! "
"After going to a few local boutiques and trying on some traditional dresses that weren't quite me - Harry then intervened and recommended the Mews Bridal in London after he'd heard so many great things about them from his past brides. I walked in with my one of my closest friends/bridesmaid who I knew would give me her honest opinion. I love French dresses, so going to an all French designer boutique really gave me a lot of choice. I love a slit, halter and intricate details. I would've been happy with any of the 5 Rime Arodaky dresses I tried on, but due to the short time-frame (and quite a large discount!) decided on one of two sample sale dresses. By picking a sample sale dress, I was able to take it home with me on the day and have the adjustments made by one of their recommended seamstresses. It's worth considering that the timeframe for dresses that need to be ordered in your size is often 6-months plus. "
"I absolutely loved my suit. I've worn it 3 times since the wedding! The colour and fabric were just amazing and so unique. It's really hard to find linen in forest green, I looked up and down Saville Row in London until finally Thom Sweeny had exactly what I was after. Their style is luxurious, modern and old school British tailoring which spoke to me and my fashion sense. The fittings were great and even though I'd lost a bit too much weight they were able to adjust me on short notice. It's worth investing in a made to measure/bespoke suit for your wedding, especially if you have an awkward body shape like myself. Also worth investing in a travel sized steamer! "(Groom, Harry)
"I really enjoyed emerging myself in the Cypriot culture, and members of Harry's extended family helped me learn some Greek and pull off a 3 minute speech in Greek. The church ceremony is much longer than a UK ceremony, and has so many more ritualistic elements to it which I felt made it really meaningful, and a very new experience for all of the english people!"
