OWN has cancelled “Love Is_” after one season due to domestic violence allegations against Exec. producer, Salim Akil.
The network announced Wednesday their decision to cancel the show, citing the domestic violence claims, and claims that he stole the show idea from an ex lover.
Actor Amber Dixon Brenner filed two lawsuits against Akil., according to Deadline. Detailing frequent and repeated instances of physical abuse over their decade long affair, the suit also accuse Akil of using Brenner’s 2015 Luv & Perversity in the East Village screenplay as the basis of Love Is_ _.
Akil produced the show alongside his wife, Mara Brock Akil.
The show was suppose to be inspired by Salim and Mara Brock Akil’s real life. From their dating/ and start in Hollywood.
