Love And Its Derangements by @JoyceCarolOates

By Pamelascott

Here is an exciting new collection of poems by one of America's most brilliant and versatile writers. In this volume Joyce Carol Oates reveals the disorder, confusion, and insanity of love. Love is an experience of both elevation and degradation as seem from a distinctively feminine and personal point of view.

I really enjoyed Love And Its Derangements. Unlike the other collections I've read recently the poems encompass the theme of love, more or less and it's various facets. I especially liked the poems that explored how irrational love can be. Her use of language and imagery is even better than the other collections I've read and you can see her progression as poet. I especially liked the title poem, Duet, Public Love, Passing an Afternoon, Drownings and Diving. I'd recommend this.
