A teenager died Thursday afternoon in an accidental shooting in Tioga, authorities reported today.
The victim was Tony Lawson, 17 of Tioga, according to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office.
“The
victim and some friends were mishandling a firearm that they presumed
was unloaded, and it discharged, striking the victim once,” Sheriff
William Earl Hilton said in a news release.
The release states that "it appears this was an accidental shooting."
