Thursday. Not quite Friday, but you’ve already survived most of the week and you’re feeling pretty good about it. You probably don’t want to stay out too late since you’ll be back at it again tomorrow for one last hurrah, but maybe you wouldn’t mind dabbling in something fun after work tonight.
Well, how about ACTIVATE? The Chicago Loop Alliance holds monthly arts & music themed events from May to October, and it just so happens that their July event is taking place today at Couch Place in the Loop at 5PM.
This month’s performance is from Thēarē Group, and it’s all about live art, hip-hop, and house music. In coordination with the Chicago Cultural Center, ACTIVATE is also showing performances based on the Move Your Body: The Evolution of Chicago House Music exhibition. Plus, as an added bonus, you can enjoy a sneak peek of the documentary Midway: The story of Chicago Hip-Hop.
Participating artists include CZR PRZ, Natasha Kohli, Rahmaan Statik, Chadwick Anderson, AVA Grey, Chris Silva, Matthew Hoffman, Pretty Black Girl, L.A. VanGogh, Denmark Vessey, Lo/Ro Sound and 278 Media.
ACTIVATE is presented by Blue Moon, and if you RSVP at their event page, you’ll receive a free drink ticket. The event is completely FREE, so feel free to stop by and check it out without worrying about the impact on your wallet. Remember though, outside of the free drink ticket, you’ll have to pay for the rest of the booze.
