Warm weather is here! Well, at least for us on the West coast things have been sunny, and if you’re still struggling with chilly weather, you shouldn’t have too much longer to wait! And what’s better to get you through those cloudy mornings than a bright, cheery lookbook from some of your favorite stores and designers! Spring and Summer get rolled into one season as far as collections go, but lookbooks break it down season by season and show you how to wear pieces from each collection to fit the season and your mood. It is the ultimate tool in getting dressed when you are uninspired and have no idea how to put together all of your newest purchases.
I personally shop through lookbooks for ideas, not necessarily for the clothes. April is known as the month that many lookbooks and catalogs come out, and now that the month is close to its end, let us take a look at our favorite looks, and what has been inspirational enough to make into our closets for the warm months to come!
Zara, in my eye, nailed it this Spring season! Everything included in their March AND April lookbooks made it on my “must-have” list. I think the look above started my obsession with camel and red, and the heavy knits mixed with light and airy florals are simply to die for. And no closet will be complete this season without bright stripes!
As a close runner for favorite lookbook, J. Crew really delivered this season with a mix of looks that are all perfectly classic and cutting-edge trendy at the same time. While I am not a huge fan of the pajama inspired looks that hit the runways for S/S ’11, I now think a pair of satin or other lush fabric trousers are a must! And somehow, all of my recent purchases seem to be cobalt blue, just like this dress. It may not have been forecasted as the color of 2011, but it is an essential that looks great on everyone!
Button up blouses are available in all colors, cuts and silhouettes this spring! My favorites tend to be the flouncier and softer cuts, preferably sleeveless. These two from Versace (left) and H&M Night Collection (right) are so ultra-feminine and sweet!
I normally avoid dresses because, as someone who greatly enjoys getting dressed and dolled up, I find it almost too simple and not personal enough to throw on one piece and call it “my personal style”. However, with textured and layered dresses like these from Opening Ceremony (left) and See by Chloe (right), the dress speaks for itself! It’s easy and breezy! And can’t you just imagine dressing up that striped number in a nautical style with red shoes and gold jewelry!? Cute!
