Thursday night saw us inside the newly refurbished Hutchesons City Grill and 158 Club Lounge to attend the Veuve Clicquot Rich Picnic.
The 158 Lounge Bar was a stunning setting to begin with, now there's been a few tweaks with the addition of some gorgeously soft seating and some more tables to encourage lingering - as if we needed encouragement!
Still on a holiday vibe, we ordered a couple of vermouths and it was good to see a selection (Cocchi Americano, Torino & Rossa, and Dolin Dry etc.) on the drinks menu.
The 158 Club Lounge is still cosy and speakeasy-like. There are some more pops of light and greenery to make it a bit more feminine. I got a 1930's New York feel, and could happily sit here drinking all day!
We were here, not just for a nosey, but to attend "A very rich picnic" showcasing Veuve Clicquot Rich, a new champagne which has been developed specifically for mixing. We were given a bundle of garnishes and encouraged to mix way! Click here to find out more about Veuve Clicquot Rich.

I was surprised by the pepper with the champagne. Such a fresh smell and a very different flavour, but then pepper does work with vodka.
Of course it's not a picnic without a picnic basket. Each table was supplied with a basket of goodies. Sausage rolls, cheese, cured meats, chicken liver parfait and more. Nibbles and fizz in beautiful surroundings - perfect! 👌
This was followed by Veuve Clicquot infused with blue hibiscus tea served from a teapot! Again, delicious flavours. Fruity and exceedingly summery.
We took a break from our picnic to look upstairs at the refurbished Hutchesons CIty Grill. It was packed too.
A different seating arrangement with what looks like more tables yet more space to move about and take in the surrounding decor.
We returned to try out the Veuve Clicquot Rich Rose and slip into the weekend with some tunes from the DJ.
