Long Distance Calling have unveiled the video for ‘Out There’, the first song from their widely anticipated sixth album ‘Boundless’ (released on 2 February). It’s a 9-and-a-quarter-minute beast of a song that veers into so many different directions that bring to mind both Mogwai and Maybeshewill. It opens with huge-sounding walls of guitar and chunky riffs before calming down into an almost ambient piece.
The video, shot in the Dolomites, perfectly complements the far-reaching sound and showcases some beautiful scenery and landscapes while the song gives you pause for breath around the five-minute mark. There’s a tantalising combination of restraint and rock in this song that will whet any prog- or math-rock fan’s anticipation for the forthcoming record.
