LONDONERS is our new occasional series here at The D.C. A photographic gallery of the stars, bit-part players, icons, divas and eccentrics who color our city.
This second installment is by David…
David adds:
You better believe it, we're waving not drowning.
Waving an advance hail fellow well met to all of you from somewhere else who've never been to our town and are maybe thinking about stopping by.
You saw us in our Sunday-go-to-meeting finery last summer: You know, the Olympics and all that. London looked pretty good, didn't it?
And you know something, it also looks pretty good when it's just being its "ordinary" self. Not all dolled up, not putting on a show for "a global audience".
Just Londoning away. Doing its thing. Making its daily rounds.
So here's some ballast, some ordinary, some quotidian (always wanted to use that word!) London. And Londoners. This is what the place looks like. What we look like.
Get right down to it, this is what Noel Coward was on about when he banged out the 20 + 1 (twenty monosyllables and one disyllable).
If you use your loaf a bit and know what's what This old spot Is a bloody good place to be.
