If You Do One OTHER Thing In London...

London Spy 25:04:15 Our Saturday #London Review

Our weekly slot in which we point you in the direction of other happenings and events in our great city. A new exhibition, a gig, a museum, a pop-up-shop - the best of London within a few minutes of a London Walks walking tour.

From 1st May there's a great new exhibition at Orbital Comics in Great Newport Street...

COVER VERSIONS: WHEN MUSIC & COMICS COLLIDE - MAY 1-14!

London Spy 25:04:15 Our Saturday #London Review

From May 1st - May 14th this year, Orbital Comics will be hosting COVER VERSIONS: When Music & Comics Collide!

12 comic artists have been tasked with taking an album of their choosing, and creating a new piece of cover art for it: It could be their favourite album, one they listen to whilst working in the studio that often provides inspiration, or an album that they secretly think could benefit from a better sleeve!

The finished pieces will be displayed at 12 ″ record sleeve size, and when the exhibition closes, a short print run of each piece will be made available for purchase, with proceeds going to Brain Tumour Research.

In the lead up the show, the Orbital blog will be launching on 1st April, with articles & interviews on the crossover between comics & music, with a number of events to be announced coinciding with the exhibition, including a launch night on 1st May!

And here's how to find Orbital...

Shoes are in the media this week here in the UK. First up is this question in The Guardian:

Given that women with size 8 feet are tall and women with size 4 feet are small, why do shoe shops put the size 8 shoes on the bottom shelf and the size 4 shoes on the top shelf?

Shoes will feature in the forthcoming General Election according to The New Statesman:

"Views not shoes," declares the Fawcett Society in its new campaign to monitor the ways in which female politicians are subjected to sexist reporting. "Are we given shoe commentary rather than hearing what women have to say on the economy?" asks the society; to which, I am afraid, the answer appears to be yes. But what might come as a surprise is that most of the commentary doesn't concern women - not even Theresa May, she of the leopard-print kitten heels and thigh-high patent leather boots; or Nicola Sturgeon, with her fondness for L K Bennett nude courts - but the male party leaders instead.

Then we had a look at the mapping facility on our iSteps app. And the route looked like this...

...and we couldn't help but notice that the outline left on the map looked a little like a profile of Frankenstein's monster. Don't see it? How about this, then...
